The dermatopathology subspecialty division of Hospital Pathology Associates provides expertise in diagnosing all skin, hair and nail diseases. Composed of five dermatopathology fellowship-trained and board-certified pathologists with decades of experience, we offer a depth of knowledge unique to the area we are proud to serve. This level of education is key to addressing the more than 1,200 different diagnoses that may involve the skin.
Our dermatopathologists provide a patient-centered consultative service to physicians and other clinical partners by incorporating clinical history and clinical photos along with observations through the microscope. Beyond routine microscopic examination, the dermatopathology subspecialty division works with our partners at Allina Health and Dermatology Consultants to employ an array of special stains for infectious organisms, immunohistochemical stains to better classify challenging melanocytic and other tumors, and tumor molecular diagnostics to help guide treatment. We further collaborate with dermatologists, oncologists, plastic surgeons and Mohs surgeons in clinical research and quality endeavors to ensure exceptional care for our patients.
